Detailing is an unlicensed trade in Texas. There is no state board, no required training, and no standard a customer can look up. That is exactly why independent certification matters — it is the only external verification available in this industry.

IDA Certified Detailer

International Detailing Association

The International Detailing Association is the professional trade body for the detailing industry. Certified Detailer status requires passing written examinations across ten separate subject areas, including paint technology, chemical safety, machine polishing, interior systems, and business ethics.

Why it matters to you

Detailing is an unlicensed trade. Anyone can buy a polisher and call themselves a professional, and the difference between skilled and unskilled work on your clear coat is permanent. IDA certification is one of the few independent, testable standards that exists — it means someone other than the detailer verified the knowledge.

IDA Skills Validated

International Detailing Association

Skills Validated is a separate and considerably harder credential than certification. It requires demonstrating the actual work — washing, decontamination, machine polishing, interior, and finishing — in person, evaluated against a defined standard by an IDA examiner.

Why it matters to you

A written exam proves you know the theory. Skills Validation proves you can execute it under observation. Very few detailers in South Texas hold this credential, and it is the single most meaningful signal that the hands doing the work have been independently assessed.

Authorized System X Installer

System X Ceramic

System X manufactures a professional ceramic coating line sold exclusively through trained, authorized installers. Authorization requires completing manufacturer training and maintaining installation standards. Consumer-grade coatings are not the same product.

Why it matters to you

Authorization is what makes your warranty real. It means genuine product, a documented installation, and a warranty registered in your name that the manufacturer will actually honor. An unauthorized installer cannot register a warranty — whatever they promise you is backed by nothing but their own business staying open.

Carfax Service Center

Carfax

Eligible System X coating installations are submitted as a service record on your vehicle's Carfax history — a permanent, third-party-verifiable entry showing that professional paint protection was installed and when.

Why it matters to you

It converts an invisible investment into documented value. A future buyer pulling a Carfax report sees that the vehicle received professional paint protection, from a named installer, on a specific date. Almost nothing else you do to a car's finish shows up on a vehicle history report.

Why It Matters

The risk of an uncertified detailer.

Paint correction removes material from your clear coat. There is a finite amount of it — typically 40 to 60 microns on a modern vehicle — and once it is gone, the only remedy is a repaint. An inexperienced detailer working without a paint depth gauge can burn through an edge in seconds.

Ceramic coatings carry a different risk. Applied over inadequate preparation, they lock every defect underneath them for years. Applied over polishing oils, they fail early and unevenly. Neither problem is visible on the day you pick the vehicle up — both surface months later, when the coating is already cured.

Certification does not make someone infallible. What it does is establish that an independent body tested the knowledge and, in the case of Skills Validation, watched the work being performed. In an industry with no licensing requirement, that is the closest thing to a verifiable standard that exists.

What is an Authorized System X Installer?

System X sells its professional coating line only through trained, authorized installers. Authorization means we have completed manufacturer training, use genuine product, and can register your warranty. It also means eligible installations are documented as a service record on your vehicle's Carfax history — a permanent, verifiable record that a future buyer can see.

Will a ceramic coating prevent scratches and rock chips?

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. A coating adds meaningful scratch resistance against light marring — wash marks, fingernail scuffs around door handles — but it will not stop a rock chip or a shopping cart. What it genuinely does: resists chemical etching from bird droppings and bug residue, blocks UV oxidation, holds gloss for years, and makes the vehicle dramatically easier to wash. For rock chip protection you want paint protection film, which is a different product.
